The Benefits of Living on the Northshore
Located just five minutes from downtown, Chattanooga’s highly sought-after Northshore area provides a vibrant blend of commerce, culture, arts, and comfortable living.
Set against the north bank of the Tennessee River, the Northshore is connected to downtown by four bridges, including the historic Walnut Street Bridge, recognized as one of the longest pedestrian-only bridges in the world.
You can spend days exploring the one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants along Frazier Avenue and Manufacturer’s Road. Milk & Honey, River Street Deli, Taco Mamacita, Sushi Nabe, Mean Mug Coffeehouse, and Julie Darling Donuts will make choosing what to eat a difficult (but delicious) decision. You can shop for unique items at Locals Only Gifts & Goods, Blue Skies, RiverCity Apparel, and Winder Binder Gallery.
Need essentials? Don’t worry. Big-name stores are scattered around the neighborhood, too — from Whole Foods Market to Publix to Walgreens — as are multiple gyms, banking locations, dry cleaners, and more.
Chattanooga is one of the unsung art capitals of the South, and the Northshore provides a great entry point to the city’s art. Stop to take a pic of the Blue Rhino. Pound out a few tunes on the brick piano. Browse pieces in every medium at the In-Town Gallery. Take in a fun performance at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre. Later, take a stroll across the Walnut Street Bridge to the Bluff View Art District, which is home to more dining choices, shopping options, and the city’s famed Hunter Museum.
Residents and visitors alike love to walk and bike the Tennessee Riverwalk’s North Shore segment that runs along the shoreline in both Renaissance and Coolidge parks. Renaissance Park is extremely popular for its “hillside slide” and nature trails, while Coolidge Park’s antique carousel and interactive (and refreshing) fountain make it a destination for families and its countless concerts, festivals, and other events make it a huge draw for the entire community. (Don’t miss the Moon River Festival, held at Coolidge each September.)
Want to spend some time outdoors? You can walk along the water, use the kayak launch, or take a short drive to access the 92-acre Stringer’s Ridge for an easy hike offering incredible views of the city.
Speaking of the city, the Northshore provides easy access to it. Take the Market Street Bridge to Ross’s Landing — known as Chattanooga’s front porch — to check out the Tennessee Aquarium, IMAX Theatre, and any of the numerous events held on the riverfront, including Chattanooga’s premier music event, the Riverbend Festival.
The Northshore also has access to a wide variety of well-regarded public and private schools — both in the area and in downtown Chattanooga and nearby Red Bank. Normal Park Museum School is a magnet school that supports pre-K to eighth-grade students, focusing on interactive, progressive learning styles, while the Chattanooga High Center for Creative Arts is the area's highest-ranking middle and high school.
Given the scarcity of new construction in the Northshore area, Curate’s Northshore Heights community provides a unique opportunity to build your dream home in a dream area.
The community offers a neighborhood pool, lamp-lit sidewalks, shared greenspace, and other amenities. It also offers more than custom and designer opportunities. Some homes in North Shore Heights are move-in ready.
